Death of the Machine - Maesa Pullman (ASCAP)

I don’t need new eyes to see
I don’t need a new shoe size to be free
to go between
this body and infinity
this is just what I used to think
when I would face a test
with one triumphant
“I know best”
and “don’t tell me”
and “don’t come close to my machine”
perfectly shining steel
yeah, steel doesn’t feel

then one day
I stood in the shadow of
this metal
quite impressive structure
said a prayer for all it had done
then told the sun
to shine as hard as it could
to crack open
that thing
to reveal

what is real
what is real
